The Stiles + Drewe Best New Song Prize is an annual competition produced by Mercury Musical Developments, George Stiles and Anthony Drew, in partnership with Theatrical Rights Worldwide.

From an entry field of hundreds of songs the final shortlist has been whittled down to 12 finalists who will all present their song at a concert at The Other Palace in October 2026.

We are thrilled to have two writing teams represented this year.

Tasker & McGrath‘s Be Your Own Man is from their new musical RISING. A folk-inflected Irish musical, RISING reimagines the 1916 Dublin rebellion through the inner life of Patrick Pearse, its most enigmatic leader. RISING had its first public reading in April 2026 and has bee generating online buzz ever since. We expect an exciting future for this gorgeous show.

We can’t wait to hear Be Your Own Man performed at the Stiles + Drewe Best New Song Prize concert.
