Bethany Tennick is arranger and musical director for the workshop performance of Butterflies, a new Scottish musical by Zoë Bestel and Clare Prenton.

Performed by five young Scottish actor-musicians, this entirely acoustic, in-the-round gig theatre production blends award-winning singer-songwriter Zoë Bestel’s dreamy indie-pop, with its warm, intimate vocals and reflective lyrics, with Bethany’s arrangements. The original story is by writer Clare Prenton.

One night. One hill. A moment that changed everything.

In the summer of 2011, five teenagers meet for the first time on a hill. They laugh, flirt, kiss and dream, unaware that this chance encounter will shape the next five years of their lives.

They make a pact to return to the same place every year, no matter what, and never lose sight of who they are. But the years that follow will change them and the world around them forever.

Funded by the Creative Scotland Open Fund for Individuals, Arts D&G and Theatre Royal Dumfries.

Presented by Genesis Theatre Productions.

The 2 week workshop culminates in 2x 2:30pm performances at Theatre Royal Dumfries on 25th and 26th September.
