William Relton will be back at Glyndebourne Festival this summer in the acting role of Major-Domo (AKA the Haushofmeister) in Ariadne Auf Naxos.

The richest man in Vienna has commissioned an evening’s entertainment. But when the Mojor-Domo delivers the news that the tragic opera and comedy troupes must share the stage, all bets are off. Strauss’ opera-within-an-opera is part farce, part dream-like fantasy, set to one of his most luscious scores.

William is no stranger to this comic high-status German-speaking role, having both played and directed the role in past productions – however this will be his first time performing the role in Laurent Pelly’s new direction for Glyndebourne.
