Earth to Theo from Theo in Between has been selected as one of the 12 finalists for this year’s Stiles + Drewe Best New Song Prize.

The Stiles + Drewe Best New Song Prize is an annual competition produced by Mercury Musical Developments, George Stiles and Anthony Drew, in partnership with Theatrical Rights Worldwide.

From an entry field of hundreds of songs the final shortlist has been whittled down to 12 finalists who will all present their song at a concert at The Other Palace in October 2026.

We are thrilled to have two writing teams represented this year.

Theo in Between by Jordan Li-Smith and Gareth Mattey was first seen as part of British Youth Music Theatre’s 2025’s summer season at Leeds Carriagworks. The musical follows Theo’s attempts to understand what it means to be a ‘man’ while discovering their own unique ‘yellow brick road’ to understanding their gender in a small English town on the brink of the new millennium.

We are very excited to hear Earth to Theo performed at the Stiles + Drewe Best New Song Prize concert.
