Stu McLoughlin as Macbeth for Tobacco Factory Theatres

Actor

We’re delighted to share that Stu McLoughlin will take on the title role in Macbeth for Tobacco Factory Theatres, running from 19 February – 28 March 2026.

Shakespeare’s Macbeth is a ruthless exploration of ambition, power, and the cost of forsaking the greater good. When Macbeth hears a prophecy that he is destined to rule, his desire for power overrides loyalty, love, and reason. Together with Lady Macbeth, he crosses a moral threshold that leads to guilt, paranoia and violence, in a world where blood will indeed have blood.

This bold new production is directed by Heidi Vaughan, Artistic Director of Tobacco Factory Theatres, whose ensemble-driven approach foregrounds collaboration, humanity and emotional depth. Darkly pagan in tone, the production pulses with ritual, prophecy and political unease, speaking urgently to contemporary questions of leadership, individualism and moral responsibility.

Stu is a familiar face at Tobacco Factory Theatres, having appeared in The Winter’s Tale last year, and regularly performs at the venue with Living Spit, the company he co-founded and with whom he has toured extensively in the UK and internationally. His recent credits also include The Two Gentlemen of Verona for the Royal Shakespeare Company, alongside past work for the National Theatre, Bristol Old Vic and in the West End.

Stu is managed by Rhys.
