Alex Kanefsky and Darren Clark‘s new festive show for Farnham Maltings, The Tailor of Gloucester, will head out on an Autumn tour throughout October and November this year before settling down for a run at Farnham Maltings over the festive period.

It’s Christmas Eve, the one night of the year when animals can speak. In a town being drained of colour, a struggling tailor and a family of sharp, ambitious mice finally find themselves on the brink of success. Fame and fortune await, but at what cost for their friends and neighbours?

Celebrate the 160th anniversary of Beatrix Potter’s birth this Christmas with a bold adaptation of The Tailor of Gloucester produced by Farnham Maltings, with an original script by Alex Kanefsky (Cable Street) and an electrifying original score by double Olivier Award winner Darren Clark (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button). Packed with live rock and pop music, inventive puppetry, jokes, mischief and festive surprises, a cast of four spin this classic story into a fresh new adventure.

This certainly isn’t Alex and Darren’s first collaboration, having created and toured many shows for young audiences over the years, including The Boy and the Mermaid, The Great Floating Paper Balloon Radio Show, The Grumpiest Boy in the World and the more recent All For Your Delight, also for Farnham Maltings.
