Ellie Pawsey Shines as Marmee in Little Women UK Tour

Actor

We’re incredibly proud of our client Ellie Pawsey, who has stepped into the role of Marmee in the UK Tour of Little Women – and the reviews are glowing….

Originally joining the production as cover for Meg, Marmee, and Aunt March, Ellie has been performing the role of Marmee since Eastbourne and is currently delighting audiences in Richmond.

Here’s what the critics are saying:

“A compassionate and resilient Marmee, who is played so lovingly and realistically by Ellie Pawsey it is hard to believe Pawsey is not their actual mother.”
Mark Aspen

“Ellie Pawsey brings a steady, empathetic presence as Marmee, portraying her as both nurturing and quietly formidable.”
Aberdeen Inspired

“Ellie Pawsey understudied as Marmee in this performance and her motherly light really shone in the role. Her strength in holding together her family was really evident yet she was able to balance this with the emotion of hearing about her injured husband and the pain of losing a daughter.”
Get the Chance Wales

“Ellie Pawsey, stepping in as Marmee, was also brilliant. She brought a quiet strength and warmth to the role that really grounded the family and gave emotional weight to the more reflective scenes.”
A Youngish Perspective

“Instead Ellie Pawsey – the cover actor for Aunt March, Marmee and Beth, stood in. I have to be honest, this is one of my favourite things to happen at the theatre. The understudies are INCREDIBLE. Knowing multiple roles, we get to witness often their one shot. And hers was stupendous.”
Press & Journal

“She delivered a composed and heartfelt performance as Marmee. Stepping into such a central role is no small feat, but Pawsey brought a grounded warmth to the character, anchoring the March sisters with quiet strength.”
Theatre Scotland

“Ellie Pawsey as Marmee brings a compelling presence, anchoring the story in maternal strength and love.”
What’s Good To Do

“Ellie Pawsey impresses as Marmee, the girls’ steady and loving mother.”
Wales247

“Marmee is played with engrossing compassion by Ellie Pawsey.”
Twickenham Tribune

“Due to cast indisposition, Ellie Pawsey was seen as the epitome of a motherly figure in her character of Abigail (Marmee) March. Her relationship with each of her daughters is beautifully portrayed through small yet impactful lines and acts of love.”
Redbrick

“Ellie Pawsey who totally owned this role.”
Antony N Britt

Little Women, directed by Loveday Ingram and adapted by Anne-Marie Casey, continues its 2025 tour across the UK with performances upcoming in Leeds (10th-14th June) and Plymouth (17th to 21st June).

We’re thrilled to see Ellie getting the recognition she deserves – and we can’t wait for even more audiences to witness her beautiful work.
