Cranks writes and performs Happiness is a Radical Act

Actor, Writer

Rebecca Crankshaw (AKA Cranks) will undertake her first public Work In Progress sharing of
Happiness is a Radical Act – Rave Culture, Queerness, Motherhood & Me
on April 20th at The Divine…

HIARA is a show which celebrates the transformative power of rave culture and queerness, and aims to reclaim happiness as an act of resistance, in the increasingly terrifying world in which we live.

In 2024, Cranks was awarded a Developing Your Creative Practice grant by the Arts Council. One of her key focuses this year has been to generate her own work, and HIARA is a direct result of this dedication. As this will be the piece’s first public outing, Cranks is eager to gauge its reception from a larger audience and explore potential directions for its future.

The Divine is East London’s newest queer performance venue and nightclub. This fusion of performance, queerness and rave culture aligns brilliantly with HIARA’s ethos, and Cranks is thrilled to have their support for this sharing.

Some tickets will be made publicly available through OutSavvy here:
